- Profile: The Austrian Academy of Sciences is the largest institution conducting non-university research in Austria with 1,600 employees in 28 institutes, practicing basic research at the highest international level. Three institutes, IMBA - Institute of Molecular Biotechnology, GMI - Gregor Mendel Institute of Molecular Plant Biology, and CeMM - Research Center for Molecular Medicine, are carrying out cutting-edge research in molecular biology, biomedical research, and plant biology.
